Inktober 2014

Inktober is here again.  It's kind of strange when people ask if you're going to participate in a daily drawing type of event when you already draw every day.  It's a fun thing to take part in though, and a nice chance to try some different things with the inks.  Below is #inktober Day One.  I'll be adding pieces to the front page of my website.

It's been way too long since I touched this blog so thought I'd jump on quickly to share some stuff.  I'm currently working on a few different things, mostly comic related, which I'll hopefully be able to share more of in the near-ish future.  Til then, here's a sample of a new collection of work I'm putting together for the next issue of the Home Brew Vampire Bullets anthology.

Ascend (Meninadanca Charity Print)

"Ascend" is a special print I produced for Meninadanca.  They're an orgnisation in Brazil who are doing amazing and important work with at-risk girls in Brazilian communities.  All profits from the sales of these prints is bring donated to help them with their cause.  Prints can be purchased HERE and HERE.

HBVB Anthology and more

The first issue of the Home Brew Vampire Bullets anthology comic is now available via print-on-demand and digital download.  All the links and other info can be found HERE!

2014 is going to be very comic-cetric for me, something I'm incredibly excited about.  On top of more short stories for HBVB and Velocity I'll also be (finally) returning to (and wrapping up) the Secret History Of..... webcomic (which will then go to print) as well as a new Leroy one-shot comic and an unrelated mini-series built up around an story I've been working out for awhile now.

I recently wrapped up a new short comic story which will be released later this month in the Home Brewed Vampire Bullets Anthology.  I'll share a link when it's up (initially in digital format, with the print version following it a bit later).  I've got a few pieces in some upcoming group show as well, more info on those soon.

The first ever Leroy wallet is now available to back/pre-order.  Just click on the below image and it'll take you where you need to go.  I'm going to be giving the original ink artwork used for the outside of the wallet to one lucky backer, just figuring out the best way to do that at the moment.  More info on that soon.

Aphotic Comfort Exhibition

My next exhibition opens in just over 2 weeks. With previous exhibitions I've generally built the work up around a set narrative and theme. For this body of work I've lowered my guard and allowed the art to develop more naturally, being driven by mood and emotion. In a way it's a visual representation of 8 months in the life of someone who lives with depression, capturing the light and the dark, and the ways in which those elements interact with each other. At its core it's driven by the notion of hope, and I hope to see you there.

Captain America

Thanks to everyone who came along to All Star Comics for Free Comic Book Day.  The turnout was huge and I had a blast doing free sketches for people.

I'm still working away on pieces for the July exhibition, very excited about the direction the works is taking.  I'll post some complete images closer to the date.  Til then here's a new Captain America/Red Skull page I worked on yesterday.
