Around this time last year I shifted into high gear in regards to the things I wanted to achieve with my art and artistic career. Prior to then I was always a bit of a workhorse, more than willing to put in the time needed to make things happen, but there was a lack of focus. Tightening up that focus led to an even bigger increase in the time and energy I devote to my art, and the last 12 months have been quite staggering. I've had 2 solo exhibitions (with a 3rd happening in a few weeks time), released 2 art books (with a 3rd nearing completion), co-created a new art/toy project in M+M, produced over 200 t-shirt designs, and started building a new art/clothing/accessory collaborative project called 4PMART.
The next 12 months are gearing up to be even bigger. M+M will have it's first official release in the coming months, followed by an exhibition next year. A new graphic novel will be released, a sequel to Lonely Monsters that is very different in story and tone (this will be launched with an exhibition featuring art from the book as well as a selection of Leroy portraits produced by other artists). A new art/story book, something I've wanted to do for some time, will also be released (with an accompanying exhibition). And that's just the stuff I can talk about, there's much more to come.
To everyone who follows my work via this blog, facebook, twitter, redbubble, etc, etc, thank you for your interest and support. And for those in Melbourne, be sure to come along on September 15th for the exhibition I've been wanting to do for a few years now. The Lonely Hunter, featuring over 200 pieces dedicated to Leroy, my favourite creation.
Thanks, Matt
